It's NAIDOC week (4-11 July)

NAIDOC originally stood for ‘National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee’. This committee was once responsible for organising national activities during NAIDOC Week and its acronym has since become the name of the week itself.

This  week is an opportunity for all of us to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.  

This year the topic of NAIDOC week is “heal the country” and speaks to the deep connection to Country that is inherent in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identity and it is a call to or greater protections for the lands and waters, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander sacred sites and cultural heritage from exploitation, desecration, and destruction.
